Studio Pieter Stockmans

The Studio Pieter Stockmans was founded in 1987 and is an internationally renowned reference in the field of designs in hard porcelain. Piet(er) Stockmans passed on his expertise and the love of porcelain to his daughter Widukind Stockmans who has taken over management of the studio since 2007. Porcelain is regarded as the most prestigious type of pottery for its demanding manufacturing process, its delicacy, strength, and white colour. The material has a reputation for being hard to work with, that it cannot be moulded, on the contrary, that it moulds those who try to work it. The colour and density of porcelain is explained by the firing process. The material is fired at 1400 degrees Celsius, which yields a snowy white and extremely hard product.
